Mont Blanc

The first systematic account of the minerals of the Mont Blanc area was published in 1873, cataloguing 90 mineral types.

Mont Blanc can create its own weather patterns due to its height, with the summit being a permanent ice cap at around −20 °C (−4 °F).

The first recorded ascent of Mont Blanc was on 8 August 1786 by Jacques Balmat and Michel Paccard.

The summit of Mont Blanc is a thick, perennial ice-and-snow dome, making its exact elevation difficult to determine.

In 2013, the summit of Mont Blanc was measured at 4,810.02 m (15,781 ft), marking one of the highest recorded elevations.
