Margilan

There is a legend that the name Margilan originated from Alexander the Great's visit, where he was served a dish called 'Murjinon', meaning 'chicken and bread'.

Margilan has been a center for silk fabric production since antiquity.

The Yodgorlik Silk Factory, established in 1983, focuses on preserving traditional silk weaving techniques and employs over 200 workers.

The Kumtepa Bazaar, located 5 kilometers west of the city center, is one of the most vibrant markets in Central Asia.

Margilan is home to representatives of more than 30 nationalities.
