Hradec Kralove

The name Hradec Králové literally means 'queen's castle'.

Hradec Králové is located at the confluence of the Elbe and Orlice rivers.

The city was a military centre during the Hussite Wars and was completely destroyed by the Hussites in 1423.

Hradec Králové is home to the Klicpera Theatre, which is a four-time winner of the Czech 'Theatre of the Year' award.

The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Hradec Králové was promoted to a cathedral by Pope Alexander VII in 1664.
