Bharatpur

In March 2017, Bharatpur was declared a metropolitan city after merging with Narayani Municipality, Chitrawan Municipality, and Kabilas Village.

At the time of the 2021 Nepal census, 83.6% of Bharatpur's population identified as Hindu.

Bishazari Tal, meaning 'Lake twenty thousand', serves as a bird watching center and houses many crocodiles.

Barkati Jame Masjid, established in 1955, is the oldest mosque in Chitwan District and one of the largest in Nepal.

Bharatpur is the only city in Nepal that has two operating airports: Bharatpur Airport and Meghauli Airport.
