Taif

The city of Ta'if was previously known as Wajj, a name significant in Arabian and Islamic history.

Ta'if was historically a religious center that housed the idol of the goddess Lāt, known as 'the lady of Ta'if.'

Ta'if is situated at an elevation of 1,879 m (6,165 ft) above mean sea level, making it cooler in summer than other parts of Saudi Arabia.

The distilled rose oil from Ta'if's roses has gained the name 'Ta'if rose' and was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2024.

The Souk 'Okaz, located near Ta'if, was a historic theater for sociopolitical and commercial exchanges in pre-Islamic Arabia.
