Lelydorp

Lelydorp was originally called Kofi Djompo, named after a maroon rebel leader.

The name Kofi means 'born on Friday' and Djompo means 'jump'.

Lelydorp is considered a big village rather than a city.

Lelydorp is the most important halfway stopping point between Paramaribo and Zanderij.

Lelydorp maintains international relations with the twin city of Lelystad.
