Trenčín

Trenčín was first mentioned under the Greek name Leukaristos around 150 AD.

Trenčín Castle is one of the few stone castles in Slovakia that resisted the Mongol invasion in 1241.

The city lies in the Trenčín Basin, surrounded by the Strážov Mountains, Považský Inovec, and White Carpathians.

Pohoda, the most visited music festival in Slovakia, has been organized in Trenčín since 1997.

Trenčín is home to the public Alexander Dubček University, which has 7,140 students.
