Nijmegen

Nijmegen was the first of two settlements in what is now the Kingdom of the Netherlands to receive Roman city rights in 98.

In January 2022, archeologists announced the discovery of a 2,000-year-old blue glass bowl in Nijmegen.

Nijmegen has hosted the annual Four Days Marches since 1925, attracting over 40,000 participants from about 70 countries.

The city is home to Radboud University, founded in 1923 as the first Catholic university in the Netherlands.

Nijmegen is one of the warmest cities in the Netherlands, especially during summer when it often records the highest temperatures.
