Kumanovo

Kumanovo derives its name from the Cumans, a tribe that settled in the area in the early 12th century.

Kumanovo is home to the 4,000-year-old megalithic astronomical observatory of Kokino, which is ranked fourth on NASA's list of old observatories.

The town was first mentioned in 1530 as a village in Nogoriçe town, established slightly earlier in 1519 by Turkish colonists.

Kumanovo has a humid subtropical climate with warm to hot summers and chilly winters.

KF Bashkimi 1947 won the 2004–05 Macedonian Football Cup.
