Nikšić

Nikšić was known as Anderba or Enderon during classical antiquity.

The Ottoman Empire took control of Onogošt in 1465 and ruled for over four hundred years.

Nikšić is situated at an elevation of 640 m AMSL in the spacious Nikšić field.

The first train arrived at the newly-constructed railway station in Nikšić on 12 July 1938 after thirteen years of construction.

Nikšić is home to 40 educational institutions, including three faculties of the University of Montenegro.
