Malindi

Malindi is home to the Broglio Space Center, which was previously known as the San Marco Equatorial Range.

The Malindi Kingdom appears to have been formed around the 9th century AD and grew powerful before the arrival of Vasco da Gama.

In 1414, Malindi was visited by the fleet of the Chinese explorer Zheng He, who received a giraffe as a gift from the town's ruler.

Malindi was officially made a town in 1903, with a population of around 1,148 by 1913.
