Lubango

Lubango was originally established in 1885 to serve colonists from the Madeira Islands.

The city was once known as 'Sá da Bandeira', named after Bernardo de Sá, 1st Marquess of Sá da Bandeira.

Lubango's economy is based on agriculture, particularly meat products, cereals, and tobacco.

Lubango is home to two public higher education institutions, including Mandume ya Ndemufayo University.

Lubango is regarded as the coldest city in Angola, with registered temperatures as low as −2 °C (28 °F).
