Kampala

Kampala originally referred to only the present-day Old Kampala hill, which was a hunting reserve for the Kabaka of Buganda.

The first written description of the Kibuga capital was by explorer Sir Richard Burton in 1860.

Kampala was originally built on seven hills, which include Old Kampala Hill and Mengo Hill.

Kampala hosts a Bahá'í House of Worship known as the Mother Temple of Africa, inaugurated in January 1961.
