Carnot

Carnot was named in homage to the French president Sadi Carnot, who was assassinated in 1894.

On 4 November 1911, Carnot was ceded to the German Cameroon as part of the Franco-German Accord.

The city became the capital of a subdivision of the district of Haute-Sangha in French Congo by decree on 12 December 1920.

The first mosque in Carnot was built in 1940.

Carnot became the capital of Mambéré Prefecture in December 2020.
