Carrefour

Carrefour was originally a military post in the borough of Port-au-Prince.

Carrefour has never been urbanized as its founders wished, with its agricultural vocation taking precedence.

Despite the presence of hospitals, many residents of Carrefour continue to visit hospitals in Port-au-Prince for healthcare.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Carrefour was a favorite destination for both Haitian and foreign tourists.

The Parish of Carrefour has eight chapels scattered in the communal sections.
