Freeport

Freeport is a 600 km2 free trade zone on Grand Bahama Island, established in 1955.

The Lucayan National Park in Freeport includes five ecological zones and has an extensive underwater cave system.

Snow was reported to have mixed with rain in Freeport in January 1977, coinciding with snowfall in the Miami area.

Much of Freeport's tourist industry is centered on the seaside suburb of Lucaya, named after the pre-Columbian Lucayan inhabitants.

Freeport is twin towns and sister cities with Concord, North Carolina, since 2019.
