Battambang

Battambang was established as a fishing village in the 11th century, centered around the Sangkae River.

In 2022, 31 Buddhist pagodas in Battambang received heritage status, all over 60 years old.

Battambang's central market, Psar Nath, was built in 1936 and features an Art Deco style.

Battambang was one of 55 cities added to UNESCO's Creative Cities Network on 31 October 2023.

The norry, or bamboo train, runs 4 kilometers from Prasat Banan to Chhoeuteal commune and has become a tourist attraction.
