Ahmedabad

Ahmed Shah I laid the foundation of Ahmedabad on 26 February 1411 at Manek Burj, named after a legendary Hindu saint.

Ahmedabad was the focus of settlement by Hindu migrants from Pakistan after the partition of India in 1947.

The urban poverty rate in Ahmedabad declined from 28% in 1993–1994 to 10% in 2011–2012.

Ahmedabad has a hot semi-arid climate, with an average summer maximum temperature of 43 °C (109 °F).

The first all-vegetarian Pizza Hut in the world opened in Ahmedabad.
